Hello All,
Today I had a wedding at the Loveland Castle. Sean and Carrie wanted to get married in the gardens of the castle which was built over a fifty year period by a man in Loveland, Ohio. He had carried all of the rocks from the river bed below to form the castle walls and built the majority of it alone. He passed away several years ago but the "Knights" have kept the building up and offer the area for events.
It was a bright and sunny day as we stood in the garden area where the bride and groom exchanged their vows with only a few family members looking on. Withe the "I do's" said and after they exchanged rings I pronounced them Husband and wife and they were off to a party.
Good Luck and God Bless........Rev. BB

Ben,
I knew Harry Andrews, the man that built the castle. I gre up in Loveland & we went there often. He was also the local notary, so anytime my dad needed anything notarized, that's where he went. In those days the castle was just Harry's house. I remember all the tours he'd take us on. And he never forgot a face....when folks would come, he'd always go through & tell them who had been there before & who had not....& he was never wrong. We'd go to New Jersey for vacation & see articles in the New York papers about Harry & his castle. It was a very important part of my childhood.
Harry was 92 when he died...he'd been burning trash in a can & it got out of control & he tried to stomp it out & his pants caught on fire. I believe he actually succumbed to pneumonia while hospitalized for the burns. But I still like to think of Harry in his castle. I'm glad they decided to preserve it...for a while it's future was not so clear. And what a wonderful place for a wedding! I wish I'd thought of it!
Your photos & stories are wonderful...keep spreading the joy.....bev
